Even without icing, these soft sugar cookies are delicious. Give them a festive look with a swipe of icing and a few sprinkle to catch the eyes of those you serve.
Blend together butter, salt, lemon zest, and nutmeg. Cream in sugar, add eggs and beat well. Stir in milk. Stir together dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture.
Drop rounded teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10minutes.
Notes
If you don't have any lemon zest, consider using 1/4 tsp lemon extract or 1/2 tsp lemon juice.
