Fried cabbage and noodles

  • wok or heavy bottomed iron skillet


  • 2 cups cabbage, coarsely shredded
  • 2 strips bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup wide egg noodles, dry
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed or dill weed (optional)


  • Boil noodles according to package directions. Drain.
  • In large skillet or wok, cook bacon until partially cooked and grease begins to pool in the bottom of the skillet. Add cabbage and cook, stirring constantly until crisp tender. Add noodles and cook, turning constantly until noodles are glistening and well coated. Turn fire to low, cover with lid, and cook one minute.
