I thought I’d get a major jump on my next novel this summer. I’m recovering from an ankle injury which should have limited any running around. My daughter went on an international work trip for five weeks and I told everyone I would write the weeks away so I could stay busy and not think too much about her.
Silly me.
It has been a good summer. I decided my main thrust was to strengthen my injured foot, so I signed up for a water aerobics class at our area YMCA. If you have ever needed to recover from a major injury, you know that recovery takes time and energy. It’s worth the investment. So they say. I’m banking on that.
I’ve also used the time between writing projects to go on shopping excursions with some of my girlfriends. It’s amazing how spending a few hours with my sisters in Christ leaves me refreshed and refocused. We studied Liz Curtis Higg’s book, Bad Girls of the Bible last year so our husbands ask us, “Are you going out with the Bad Girls?” Bad girls, saved by grace, we tell them. We behave ourselves for the most part.
Another accomplishment this summer is the redesign and expansion of the Grace on Parade website, thanks to my wonderful web designer, Theresa Wagar and here web design business, Coastal Waters Creative. I hope you enjoy it and stop back often. I hope to share more of my writing life and progress with you on this page. If you are a writer, I want to offer you encouragement and resources. Watch for other friends to join me in sharing their writing journey as well.
Next week, I’ll tell you more about my writing status. So much of the writing life is waiting and continuing to write while we wait. That sounds like the Christian life, doesn’t it? We keep working as we wait for Jesus’ return.
Have a wonderful week!
