My friend, Dennis Wheeler writes a wonderful weekly email newsletter called The Focus. I appreciate Dennis’ refreshing, upbeat take on age old principles. Dennis gave me permission to share one of his newsletters with you that reminds me so poignantly of God’s regard for me.
“Usually on Saturday evening my wife and I enjoy surfing the cable channels and watching several of the college football games. As we watch the various games … it’s always neat when the television camera scans the crowd and everyone waves at the camera, jumps up-n-down, and screams that their team is #1!
It’s a sea of faces – – and I don’t know their names, their background, their hurts, or their families. I know absolutely nothing about this scene of thousands of nameless faces.
Actually, when we see any crowd – we see exactly that – a crowd. We see people. A herd of humans. A flock of faces.
BUT … not so with our loving Savior!
To Him … every face is different.
Every face is a story.
Every face is a child.
Every child has a name.
And … the Savior knows every face in the crowd …
> He knows your name (John 10:3)
> He has your hair numbered (Matthew 10:30)
> He counts your steps (Job 14:16)
> He knows your thoughts (Psalm 139:2)
> He bottles your tears (Psalm 56:8)
> He holds your hand (Psalm 73:23)
> He engraves you on the palm of His hand (Isaiah 49:16)
> He supplies your needs (Philippians 4:19)
You are never lost in a sea of nameless faces.
As He scans the crowds and the multitudes …
– The Savior sees YOU!
– The Savior knows YOU!
– He knows YOUR name!
And…He will never forget YOU!!”
