“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4
Psalm 37 tells us God does not tolerate wickedness. Yet from the looks of the lives of some people, it sure does seem like some folks get away with all kinds of evil.
In what ways do you see evil people prospering? How do you feel inside when you see others getting away with evil and even succeeding in spite of wrong choices?
Read Psalm 37
1. According to vs. 1,2, why should we not “fret” and be envious of those who do wrong?
2. Verses 3-9 tell us what we should do instead. Make a list of what the Psalms suggests we do. Why is this a better attitude to have toward evildoers?
3. In verse 13, the Psalmist says God laughs at the wicked. According to the surrounding verses, why doesn’t God get overly concerned about wicked people? What will ultimately happen to evil people?
4. What promises does God give to the righteous person in this Psalm?
5. If the reassurances in this Psalm are true—and if we are going to accept this as part of God’s Word, we know it is true—how does this Psalm inspire you to live this week?

What happens when we focus our attention on God and His Son, Jesus, instead of the success of the wicked?
8. Spend time this week asking God for forgiveness for the times you have taken your attention off the Lord and His ways. Surrender yourself to Him, ask for His strength, and renew your commitment to live a righteous life this week in spite of the temporary cost and in spite of the fact that others aren’t choosing to live that way.
